Decoration Day held at New Garden
New Garden Cemetery decoration will be held in the afternoon Sunday, June 1. Those who cannot attend may send a donation to Mahlon R. MONDAY
Vouchers given for produce
Farmer's Market vouchers will be given at each senior center in the county from 8 a.m.-noon Monday through Thursday at the Council on Aging on Pryor Street. The vouchers are for produce for residents 60 and older and who meet income requirements.

TUESDAY
Summer reading program offered
The Athens-Limestone Public Library will begin registration for the summer reading program Tuesday. Registration times will be from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., 2-4 p.m., and 5-7:30 p.m. Programs for two years olds through teenagers will begin Thursday. AOTS offers children’s art camp
Art on the Square is pleased to offer a children’s art camp from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Big Spring Memorial Park pavilion in Athens. The art camp is for children in grades first through sixth. The camp costs $25, which covers the camp, all supplies and a snack. For registration call (256) 216-8300.


SATURDAY
Friends of Ardmore Library
Friends of Ardmore Public Library will sponsor a flower garden tour from 1-5 p.m. Saturday in the Ardmore, Ala. area. Advanced tickets are $8 or $10 the day of the tour. Coffee Call
A Coffee Call, sponsored by Nick Patterson and Bill Coulter, will be Saturday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives. Call Vickie or Jim at 771-7578.

Fundraiser Reunion Cemetery
A chicken and goat stew fundraiser for the upkeep of Reunion Cemetery will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the cemetery located on Holt Road. For more information, call Clara Claxton at 232-2895 or 497-4464.

Turner family reunion
The annual reunion of family and friends of the late Lee and Fleecie Poff Turner is Saturday at the Vietnam Veteran’s building on Elm Street in Athens beginning at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. Clements hosting yard sale
The Clements High School color guard and majorettes will be hosting a yard sale Saturday. Donations are being sought. To have your items picked up call Kayla at 431-2362 or Gretta at 777-2241.

Free dog dippin
The Limestone Farmers Cooperative on U.S. 31 S. in Athens will have a free dog dippin Saturday from 8-11:30 a.m. Bring your dogs to be dipped for fleas. Call the Co-op at 232-5500 for more information.

Bethel fundraiser
The Bethel, Tenn. Masonic Lodge No. 194 F & AM, will serve breakfast, buffet style, Saturday from 7-9 p.m. All proceeds go to charity. Everyone invited.

Decoration day

UPCOMING
AR testing available over summer
Students may come to the Julian Newman Elementary School library on three days this summer to read and take Accelerated Reader tests. Hours are: 9-11 a.m. June 12; 9-11 a.m. July 1 and noon-2 p.m. July 15.

Free haircuts offered
A local stylist is offering free haircuts for those in need from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the first Saturday of every month this summer at Southwind Christian Center, 518 Hatfield Lake Road. For more information call Jo Brown at (256) 232-2191.

Register for AHS reunion

Cemetery upkeep donations needed
The Wesley Chapel Cemetery committee is requesting donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. Donations may be sent to Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o 19430 Sharp Road, Athens, Ala., 35612. To volunteer to cut the cemetery call Jane Tucker at (256) 233-3927.

Veterans offer scholarships
The Vietnam Veterans of America are offering scholarships for students starting or already attending college. Must be descended from a Vietnam veteran if they reside in Athens or a chapter member if residing outside Athens. Check with school counselors for information.

MEETINGS
• American Legion. The American Legion District No. 12 will hold a district meeting Sunday, June 1, at Post No. 52 in Hartselle. The group will eat at 1 p.m. and meet at 2 p.m.
• AHS band. The Athens High Band Parents Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the band room. Will discuss band camp, summer rehearsals and the fall marching season.
• Marine Corps League. The Kenneth Black Detachment No. 1166 of the Marine Corps League will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 2 at the American Legion building on Cloverleaf Drive in Athens. • Vietnam vets meeting/fellowship. Vietnam Veterans of America will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at the chapter building at the corner of Lucas Ferry Road and West Elm Street in Athens. All Vietnam veterans, Vietnam -era veterans, associate members, family members and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Food and fellowship starts at 6 p.m. The VVA state convention will be held at our chapter house Saturday, June 14.
• Piece Makers. The Piece Makers Quilt Guild will meet Thursday, June 5, at the Masonic Lodge located on Lucas Ferry Street, just off Elm Street. Kathy Timmons will present a trunk show for the program beginning at 7 p.m.
• American Legion. Post 49 and Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at 124 Cloverleaf Drive behind Staples. Officers will be installed.
