BREAKING: House fire leaves family in limbo

ATHENS — A truck under repair started this fire at a home on Alabama 127 around 2 a.m. Friday morning, just north of the Athens city limits. Piney Chapel firefighters dumped 10,000 gallons on the blaze to douse it, but it rekindled later Friday morning. The renters of the home, Rose and John Rayburn, and son, Shane Osborn, were at home at the time but managed to escape. The Red Cross is helping the family, but the family would accept any donations of clothing, furniture or housewares, as they are uninsured. Call Teresa Finch, sister of Rose, at 256-476-3796.
