SALEM — SALEM — West Limestone kept its slim playoff hopes alive with a 49-41 homecoming victory over Priceville in Class 4A, Region 8 action at James Kennemer Stadium Friday night.

Logan Pugh broke free for two long touchdown runs in the first half and rushed 24 times for 218 yards to lead a potent Wildcats rushing attack that totaled 475 yards on 49 carries against Priceville (2-6, 0-6 Region 8)

West Limestone (4-4, 2-4) dominated the first quarter with a 35-yard quarterback keeper by Caleb McConnell and a Matthew Sanders PAT. Pugh added a 28-yatd scamper to give the Wildcats a 13-0 lead.

The Bulldogs lit up the scoreboard in the second quarter as Caleb Barker threw a pair of touchdown strikes to Nick Bell and a 61-yarder to Forrest Clemmons, and Bell nailed all three extra point attempts.

West countered with a 49-yard TD romp by Pugh and a Dillon Miller 2-point conversion, and then Miller found the end zone on an 80-yard sprint to keep the Wildcats ahead 27-21 at halftime.

In the third quarter, McConnell, who was 2 of 8 passing for 62 yards with one touchdown and an interception, had a 1-yard TD run and Aaron McWilliams scored on a 2-point conversion run, but Bell ran the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown to make the score 35-27 midway through the quarter.

McWilliams scored on a 50-yard reverse, reeled in a 51-yard bomb from McConnell and ran in another 2-point conversion to pad the lead at 49-27 heading into the final period.

Priceville rallied in the final quarter as Barker scooted free for a 20-yard QB keeper and tossed another scoring pass to Bell, who finished 5 of 6 on extra points, but the Wildcats held on for the 49-41 final score.
