EAST LIMESTONE —
East Limestone left it late, but Dilan Sayer made sure the Indians left with a victory Monday afternoon against Tanner. After coming close for 76 minutes, Sayer scored the winner with four minutes remaining to give East Limestone a 2-1 victory.
East Limestone hounded the Tanner goal during the opening 20 minutes, in front of most of the student body due to a 2:30 afternoon start. It was Tanner, however, that opened the scoring when Jose Morena gave his team a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute against the run of play.
The goal seemed to wake the hosts, who responded just three minutes later with a 30-yard strike from Michael Jarrell.
The goal was Sayer’s 26th this season. Jarrell, a midfielder is second on the team with five goals and seven assists.
Earlier, the East Limestone girls beat Tanner 10-0 in 72 minutes.
Bristol Countess scored four goals and had two assists. Jordan Runion also scored three goals while Sierra Myers and Kiki Cox each contributed a goal.
