Time to ‘Play ball!’ in Athens

— The Angels march around the bases Saturday during the opening day ceremonies for the 5- and 6-year-olds division of Athens City Parks and Recreation play. Teams kicked off the season with their first set of games at the Athens Sportsplex on U.S. 31. According to Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks, more than 200 girls signed up to play softball with the Athens City Parks and Recreation department. Saturday was the first day of play and teams celebrated with a parade and balloon release.
