East Limestone dropped its final region game of the season with a 16-14 loss to West Point Friday. East had no answer for West Point quarterback Bryant Farley, who scrambled for long touchdown runs to beat the Indians.
Tristin Skinner gave West Point a 3-0lead on a 32-yard field goal mid way through the first quarter that held until just before the half when East Limestone’s Sylvaugn Turner broke loose for a 65-yard run to take a 7-3 lead at the break.
Farley took over in the second half, scoring on a 38-yard run on West Point’s opening possession of the second half. After East answered with a Josh Petty 4-yard run, Farley proved to be the difference once again when he scrambled 50 yards for the game-winning score.
Turner finished with seven carries for 75 yards and a touchdown while Petty had nine carries 43 and a score. Nick Walsh caught three passes for 52 yards to lead both teams in receiving.
West Point (3-6, 2-5) finished with 293 yards rushing and attempted just one pass. East Limestone (2-7, 1-6) will host Auburn (8-1, 6-1) for its final game next week.
