West Limestone running back has big night on both sides of the ball

— The News Courier Player of the Week is …

Logan Pugh, West Limestone: Pugh rushed for a season-high 218 yards on 24 carries as West Limestone kept its playoff hopes alive in a 49-41 win against Priceville. Pugh broke loose for two long touchdown runs in the first half. Pugh contributed to the Wildcats’ 475 rushing yards. The junior also had a team-high eight tackles for the Wildcats.

Other local standouts:

Hayden Stephens, Tanner: Stephens ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns in Tanner’s 60-6 win over Hatton. Stephens averaged 14.5 yards per carry in the win.

Jonathan Fletcher, Tanner: The sophomore quarterback completed 5 of 6 pass attempts for 126 yards and two touchdowns and added a 14-yard rushing touchdown.

Greg Maclin, Tanner: Maclin caught four balls for 77 yards and one touchdown as Tanner cruised to victory.
