CLEMENTS — Clements senior Calli Baker last week signed a scholarship to play softball at Shelton State Community College during a ceremony at the high school. The senior will begin her fifth season as a starter when Clements’ season gets underway later this month.

Baker has been a constant for the Lady Colts, starting at third base for the past four years. Shelton State head coach Buddy Boyle said they are happy to add Baker to the team next season.

“She is a high energy player that moves well on the infield and brings a lot to a team’s chemistry,” said Boyle.  “She is typical of the type of player we have here in that she is gritty and really gets after it. What Calli does for a team offensively is move the ball around to all fields and what I think you will see is her power increase at the college level as she matures and gets stronger.”

Shelton State is located in Tuscaloosa.
