Ardmore moves to 5-0

ARDMORE — Ardmore continued its winning ways with a 56-30 victory over rival Clements Friday. The win moved the Tigers to 5-0, their best start in more than four decades.

Quarterback Garrett Miller led the way for Ardmore with five touchdown passes, including three in the first half.

All of Miller’s touchdowns came in the first three quarters as Ardmore jumped out to a 34-6 halftime lead and never looked back.

While it was Miller and the passing game doing the scoring for the Tigers, a strong ground game did the heavy lifting. Ardmore ran for 273 yards, led by Ricky Lowery’s 64 yards and two touchdowns.

Lowery opened the scoring on Ardmore’s opening drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Miller connected with tight end Hayden Durrett for a 13-yard touchdown just before the second quarter and again on the Tigers’ next drive from 36 yards out to give the Tigers a 20-0 lead.

A Chris Welling 9-yard run put the home team in front 26-0 with just over five minutes remaining in the first half.

Clement’s Carson Cook stopped the Ardmore scoring spree when he broke free for a 72-yard touchdown run. Damarcus Johnson added a 44-yard run for Clements in the second half.

Hayden Durrett led all receivers with five catches for 109 yards and four touchdowns along with three two-point conversion catches.

Ardmore (5-0, 3-0) faces its toughest game of the season when it hosts J.O. Johnson (4-1, 3-0) for a Friday 4A Region 8 game. Clements (1-4 1-2) hosts Westminster in 3A Region 8.
