Tanner couldn’t miss.
Everything the Tanner girls team threw up in the first quarter went in Tuesday night at the Northwest Region semifinal. The sharp-shooting Rattlers scored the first 18 points and cruised to a 75-36 over Sulligent to advance to the region finals Friday.
Tanner shot 57 percent from the field in the first half and limited Sulligent to 16 percent shooting to take a 46-11 lead into halftime. With such a large lead, the second half was just a formality for the Lady Rattlers.
Kelsey Houston scored 16 points off the bench to lead Tanner, including 14 in the first half. Samara French and Sydney Houston also eclipsed the double digit mark in the first half. French finished with 10 while Houston chipped in 14.
Tanner started the game on an 18-0 run, thanks to the sharp-shooting Houston, who was a perfect 4 for 4 in the first half.
It was more of the same in the second quarter as the Lady Rattler continued to pour it on at Wallace State. Tanner cruised in the second half, emptying its bench in preparation for Friday’s regional final against Cold Springs.
The Class 2A regional final will tip off at 3:40 p.m. Friday. See Thursday's print edition for more on this story.
