Indians pound their way to a win

— East Limestone racked up 474 yards on the ground to walk away from West Point with a 41-6 victory Friday. The Indians were led by Torren Haley, who carried the ball 27 times for 200 yards and four touchdowns.

Haley added a pair of touchdowns on each side of halftime as West Point struggled to deal with the bruising back. Haley averaged more than 7 yards per carry and East Limestone rushed for nearly 9 yards per carry in the lopsided victory.

Junior Tristian Mathews got things started for the Indians with a 7-yard run in the first quarter. Haley scored his first TD on the next possession on a two yard scamper. Mitchell Mathis’ extra point gave East a 13-0 second quarter lead.

West Point answered with a 48-yard touchdown pass from Conner Rusk to Jordan McKenzie to pull the home team with a score. The touchdown pass was as close as West Point would come, however.

Haley scored on touchdown runs of 18 and two yards in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach. Haley’s final touchdown was from 18 yards out mid way through the fourth quarter to give East a comfortable 34-6 lead. Shaquon Bradley added a 4-yard score on the next possession for the final score.

East Limestone threw the ball three times all night. Jevon Turner added 121 yards on eight carries for East while Chase Kessler and Matt Franks recorded interceptions on defense.

The Indians was equally impressive, limiting West Point to 181 total yards and forcing two interceptions. East Limestone (4-5) will travel to Auburn (8-1) for its final home game of the season.
