East, Tanner and West advance to area finals

— East Limestone outscored Hartselle 18-3 in the third quarter to cruise into the 5A Area 15 championship game. Leading by 19 at halftime, the Indians used a big third quarter to take a 51-17 lead into fourth quarter.

Jordon Gandy flirted with a triple double, scoring 22 points, grabbing nine rebounds and getting seven steals. Sylvaughn Turner chipped in 11 for East.

Brady Wallace was Hartselle’s leading scorer with 10.

East Limestone advanced to play Cullman Monday in the area championship game.

Tanner 64

Hatton 39

Defending 2A champions Tanner jumped out to a 39-16 halftime lead and cruised into the area championship game with a 64-39 win over Hatton Friday.

Desmond Love scored a game-high 18 points for Tanner while JonJon Fletcher and Markel Mull each added 10.

Tanner will play Lexington in Monday’s championship game.

West Limestone 62

Central 41

West had three players reach double figures in a comfortable win in the opening round of the 4A Area 16 Tournament.

Zane Griffin led the way with 18 points. Grant Baugher added 13 and Jacob Martin had 10 for West.

West led by 15 at the break and 56-27 entering the fourth quarter. The Wildcats will play Wilson in the area championship game Monday.
