ABS advances for rematch against Shoals Christian

— Athens Bible beat Tharptown 10-2 Saturday to win its first round playoff series. The Trojans will face No. 2 Shoals Christian in the second round Friday.

In its games Friday against Tharptown, ABS won the opener in Tharptown 3-2, but fell 5-3 in the second.

Evan Thomas, Ethan Thomas and Jeb Hagewood scored for ABS in the low-scoring opening win. Carter Corneil had the lone hit for the Trojans.

Tharptown battled back to win the second game. Drew Ogles led ABS with two hits and two RBIs in the 5-3 loss.

Brooks eliminates West Limestone

Ryan Masonia struck out six batters and West could manage just three hits against the senior hurler in a 7-0 opening game loss.

Brady Bedingfield led Brooks with three hits, including a two-run triple. Bedingfield drove in four runs and had three doubles in the 13-6 second game victory.

The loss ends West Limestone’s season. No. 4 Brooks advanced to play Haleyville in the second round.
