West Limestone (4-2, 2-2) took a major step forward in the quest for a playoff berth with a 30-22 homecoming win over Wilson Friday. The Wildcats used a balanced attack to jump out to a 30-6 lead before holding off a late Wilson comeback in the fourth quarter.

West Limestone took a 8-0 first-quarter lead when quarterback Drew Blakely scrambled for a 2-yard score. Blakely then hit Stevie Romero for the successful two-point conversion.

Romero added six more points when he caught a 25-yard touchdown from Blakely in the second quarter. Another successful two-point conversion from a Dillon Miller run made it 16-0.

Miller added another rushing touchdown before halftime to give West a 20-6 lead at the break. Miller finished with 18 carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including West Limestone’s final score in the third quarter.

Blakely completed 11 of 21 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown. West Limestone rushed for 187.

West Limestone moved into a tie for fourth place in 4A Region 8 with Priceville (4-2, 2-2). The Wildcats travel to Rogers (0-6, 0-4) Friday.
