Ardmore (6-1, 5-1) will play in the postseason next month, but who or where the Tigers play will be determined over the next two weeks. Ardmore clinched its first playoff berth in seven years with a 52-20 win over John Paul II Friday.
The Tigers will host Madison County (5-2, 5-1) Friday and then travel to DAR (4-3, 3-2) to determine the second through fourth place seeds in 4A Region 8.
Led by Ricky Lowery, AHS kept it on the ground Friday amassing 298 yards. Lowery carried the ball 14 times for 103 yards and four touchdowns.
Three touchdowns in the second and fourth quarter were the difference for the Tigers in what could have been a much closer game if it weren’t for a Garrett Miller pick six in the third quarter.
With Ardmore leading 30-20, JPII drove to the Tigers’ 13-yard line where Miller as defensive back stepped in front of a Drew Koubek pass and returned it 95 yards for a score. Miller as quarterback completed 5 of 7 pass attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Muscle Shoals 49, East Limestone 0
Muscle Shoals jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead that proved too much for East Limestone to overcome. The Trojans used a stable of backs to rack up 239 yards on the ground and limited East Limestone to one yard on 22 carries.
East Limestone (2-5, 1-4) will host Hartselle (5-2, 3-2) next week.
