Tanner ran its region winning streak to 34 games Friday night, rolling over the home-standing Hatton Hornets, 42-6.
Tanner (7-1, 6-0 Class 2A Region 8) wasted no time getting started by driving 54 yards in seven plays on its first possession. The score came on a 2-yard keeper by quarterback JonJon Fletcher, the first of four touchdowns in which he played a role.
Fletcher scored again late in the first quarter on a 32-yard run. Tanner held Hatton (3-5, 2-4) to no first downs and just 22 yards total offense in the first half.
"We prepare every week like it's the state championship game," Tanner head coach Laron White said. "We don't look at records. Our coaches do a good job of treating everyone the same."
Tanner opened the second quarter with a 56-yard drive in eight plays, capped by a 4-yard touchdown run by Hayden Stephens.
Just before the half, Tanner's Kaleb Thatch scooped up a Hatton fumble and rambled 50 yards for a score to push the lead to 28-0. Hatton fumbled again on the next series, and Fletcher hit Christopher Townsend with a 23-yard touchdown pass to give the Rattlers a 35-0 lead at the half.
"We told the guys to play the third quarter just like it was the beginning of the game," White said. "We wanted to play hard and get another score or two."
On the first play of the fourth quarter, Fletcher ran 49 yards to the end zone.
Hatton's score came late in the game on an 8-yard run by Romie Senior.
