DANVILLE — Four runners from Limestone County recorded Top 15 times at Saturday’s state cross-country meet to earn All-State honors.

More than 1,600 runners from Class 1A to 6A navigated the 5K course at Oakville Indian Mounds Park on an overcast and mildly cool Saturday morning, with Athens Bible’s Dalton Adams, Athens’ Tate Carden, Clements’ Mack van Wagnen and West Limestone’s Ramon Quiroz each coming home with state medals after top 15 finishes in their respective classifications.

Carden, the Limestone County boys champion, placed fourth among 163 runners in the 5A boys meet, with a time of 16:25. Homewood’s Andy Smith narrowly claimed the individual 5A title at 16:14, while Hartselle’s Aaron Davis (16:16) and John Carroll’s John Gardner (16:24) rounded out the top three.

In the Class 4A boys meet, Quiroz finished 12th at 17:36 in a race won by UMS-Wright’s Robert Hope at 16:09.

Among a field of strong 3A runners, van Wagnen shaved 22 seconds from his section meet time by crossing the finish line at 17:06 to place seventh.

Adams completed a strong finish to his season (15th, 17:44) in the 1A-2A state meet. Adams had a top 20 finish (18:05) at the county meet and a third-place time in the section race.

The boys and girls teams from Athens Bible, Elkmont and West Limestone competed Saturday, and Ardmore, Athens and Clements sent individual runners.
