FEARLESS PREDICTIONS: Week 2

(Continued)

Series history: West Morgan leads 15-6

Last year: West Morgan won 54-0

News Courier prediction: West Morgan 35, Clements 22

East Limestone at Cullman

7 p.m., Woodard Stadium

Preview: East Limestone travels to Cullman, fresh off making national news from a postgame brawl at Walker. Lost in all the hoopla was the fact that Cullman came back to win the game 13-10. East lost on a last second field goal against Madison County. The Indians made some big plays, but gave a lot yards through the air. That could be the story again against a Bearcat team that likes to pass.

Series history: Cullman 1-0

Last year: Cullman won 30-21

News Courier prediction: East Limestone 24, Cullman 21

Elkmont at Colbert County

7 p.m., Golden Eagle Stadium

Preview: These teams have traded shutouts for the past three seasons with the visiting teams leaving with big wins in those games. If Elkmont is going to leave Leighton with a win, the Red Devils will need more of the big plays they scored on against Ardmore last week.

Series history: Colbert County 15-6

Last year: Colbert County won 32-0

News Courier prediction: Colbert County 27, Elkmont 6

West Limestone at Brooks

7 p.m., E.D. Redding Stadium

Preview: West will have plenty of confidence after dismantling rival Clements in its opening game. The Wildcats will find out what they are made of against a Brooks team that made it to the 4th round of the 4A playoffs last season. This has been a high-scoring game the past three seasons. The teams have combined for an average of 68 points in those games.

Series history: Brooks leads 12-1

Last year: Brooks won 54-7

News Courier prediction: Brooks 35, West Limestone 27

Thursday, Sept. 5

Ardmore at Butler

7 p.m., Milton Frank Stadium

Preview: Ardmore is trying to get to 2-0 for the second consecutive season when the Tigers travel to Huntsville for the region opener for both teams Friday. Butler dropped their home opener to Section 27-12 while Ardmore won comfortably over Elkmont.

Series history: Ardmore leads 1-0

Last year: Ardmore won 45-21

News Courier prediction: Ardmore 28, Butler 12
