You could spot them a mile away.
West Limestone’s student section – decked out in highlighter yellow – filled the South end of Tom Drake Coliseum at Wallace State. It wasn’t just their bright colors that made the West Limestone students the ‘highlight’ of the Northwest Regional Thursday.
It was the loud roar of their voice, echoing throughout the coliseum every time West made a basket or grabbed a loose rebound. And they had plenty to cheer about watching the Lady Wildcats earn a hard-fought 53-44 victory over J.O. Johnson at the Northwest Regional.
“The first half they came out the aggressor. They were the ones penetrating and attacking,” said West Limestone head coach Ben Campbell. “At halftime, we talked about defensive transition and being the aggressor. And I thought we did. Especially, these two seniors (Autumn Bates and Mitzi “Bugg” Grizzard). I thought that was the difference in the game.”
