High school fishing clubs on the rise
Considered a hobby by most, bass fishing is now serious business for few dozen students in Limestone County. Fishing teams from Athens, Clements and West Limestone may be new, but they are ready to compete at a tournament at Joe Wheeler State Park Saturday.
Athens shuts out Cullman for area soccer win
Athens took a big step toward securing a playoff spot with a 3-0 shutout victory over Cullman Saturday. Goals from Williams Mathews, Harper Ward and Cole Schrimsher secured a crucial area victory at Athens High School Stadium.

Ardmore-Elkmont alumni game a week away
If you played football at Ardmore or Elkmont, it’s time to toss the old pigskin around again.
An alumni football game featuring former Ardmore and Elkmont players is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Ardmore High School’s football stadium.
ABS, Ardmore top ranked Limestone teams
Ardmore continues to climb in the Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball poll thanks to its eight-game winning streak. The Tigers are ranked No. 5 in Class 4A in the latest poll, released Thursday.

No. 7 Ardmore beats West Limestone 10-3
Ardmore beat softball rivals West Limestone Tuesday afternoon 10-3 with Morgan Hughes on the mound. Hughes struck out five batters and went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Alexus Morrison, Shelby Shelf, Sammy Allen and Kaitlynn Moore each had hits for Ardmore.
The No. 7-ranked Tigers lost to Falkville Monday 7-6 in extra innings. Stratton Hobbs went 2 for 4 with a pair of walks. Miranda Mitchell and Self were each 2 for 5.
Ardmore plays at East Limestone today at 2 p.m.
4 teams from 5A Region 8 ranked in latest soccer poll
It doesn’t get much tougher than 5A Region 8 where four boys teams were ranked in the latest Alabama Coaches Soccer Poll. Athens, Cullman, East Limestone and Hartselle are ranked sixth through tenth with four weeks remaining in the regular season.
Baseball teams continue area play today
Baseball teams across the state will be back in action today following a break from area play during spring break last week. At least seven Limestone baseball teams are in action today against area opponents.
Sayer goal sinks Tanner
East Limestone left it late, but Dilan Sayer made sure the Indians left with a victory Monday afternoon against Tanner. After coming close for 76 minutes, Sayer scored the winner with four minutes remaining to give East Limestone a 2-1 victory.
