Athens Bible in volleyball Elite Eight for 10th time in 16 seasons
After school today, the Athens Bible School volleyball team will be boarding a bus for the state volleyball Elite Eight finals.
ABS volleyball team advances to state
Athens Bible punched its ticket to the Elite Eight State Volleyball tournament Saturday morning with a hard fought win over over 1A No. 6 Lynn.
The No. 8 ranked Trojans lost the first game 25-20 before winning the next three games to defeat Lynn and qualify for state.
Athens Bible won 25-19, 25-16, 25-19 in the game played at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

What a difference a season can make.
A year ago, postseason play was out of the picture for perennial playoff contender Athens — a first since 2007. But Friday night, the Golden Eagles made sure that stayed in the past, defeating Lawrence County 41-14 in the final Class 5A, Region 8 game of the season, and clinching the fourth and final playoff spot.
D.A.R. topples Ardmore, 48-32, to nab No. 3 seed
Ardmore (6-3) caps its regular season at home next Friday against cross-county rival West Limestone (6-3) in a 4A non-region clash of two playoff-bound teams.
Top-ranked Tanner blanks Phil Campbell, 69-0
Tanner (8-1, 7-0), the defending state champion, has a bye in Week 10. The Rattlers will host Region 6 fourth-seed Woodland in the first round of the 2A playoffs on Nov. 8. Tanner could face a long road trip on Nov. 15, with a Round 2 matchup against familiar foe Reeltown if both teams win their opening-round games.

West Limestone comes up a yard short
Dillon Miller’s 2-point conversion run with .04 seconds remaining came up just short as Haleyville held on for a 28-27 win over West Limestone. Tyler McCormick scored from 1-yard out moments earlier to pull West within a point, but the decision to go for two failed with less than a second to play.
Tanner ranked No. 1 in latest poll
Tanner regained the top spot in 2A Alabama High School football, according to the lastest ranking released by the ASWA Wednesday. The Rattlers have won seven straight since losing their opening season game against Madison Academy.
Athens Bible’s Davis coaching final season
The Athens Bible School volleyball team will have added motivation at this year’s state tournament. ABS players have become accustomed to competing in the Elite Eight State Finals held annually in Birmingham.
Under head coach April Davis, ABS has made it to state nine out of the last 15 seasons. The team won another area championship Monday afternoon and look on pace to make it back for the seventh time in eight years.
