— Athens man accused of stealing donations for storm victims

An Athens man has been accused of stealing $2,325 in cash — including about $250 in donations for recent storm victims — from an area market, an official said.

Joey Wade Trousdale, 29, of 25442 Craft Road has been charged with second-degree theft in connection with a theft at White Dove Market at 23010 Nick Davis Road, said Limestone County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt.

Investigator Sean Doyle arrested Trousdale Tuesday following an investigation.

“He (Trousdale) took about $250 out of a jar for tornado relief plus cash from a money bag,” McNatt said.

Doyle was able to recover about $1,400 of the cash, McNatt said.
