College and Career Fair

Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Association will host a College and Career Fair from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at their Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road. The fair targets students in grades 6-12. Representatives from area colleges, universities, vocational schools and high school counselors will attend. The public is invited. Used book sale

The Friends of the Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 405 E. South St. More information: 256-232-1233.

VVA Fundraiser

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 511 will hold a turkey, ham and prize shoot fundraiser from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 17915 W. Elm St. in Athens. Chicken stew for sale: $5 all-you-can-eat or $5 per quart/$17.50 per gallon. Proceeds will fund VVA scholarships. More information: Jessie McCune 256-232-0029.

MLK Day March

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day march sponsored by the Limestone NAACP will be Saturday, Jan. 18, in downtown Athens. Lineup is at 9:30 a.m., with the march at 10 from the courthouse Square to the Limestone County Event Center on Pryor Street. An hour-long program follows the march.

‘Blood Stock’ blood drive

The American Red Cross is hosting a Haley Humphrey “Blood Stock” scholarship blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at New Life Assembly of God Family Life Center, 16768 U.S. 72 West in Athens.

Teen Library Council

Applications for the Teen Library Council are now available at the Athens-Limestone Public Library. TLC will meet to discuss books, movies, music and other items of teen interest. • AHS Class of ’56. Athens High School Class of 1956 and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Applebee’s. More information: 256-777-0516.

• ALERA. The Athens-Limestone Education Retirees Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Athens Recreation Center. Guests will be Tammy Irons and Frank Travis. More information: Jerry George 256-729-1145.
