SATURDAY

Wreath-making workshop

A wreath-making workshop led by Glenda Richardson will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 207 E. Washington St. in Athens. A $30 fee includes supplies and instruction. Proceeds fund Outreach which includes the monthly beans and rice giveaway. Space is limited. Registration required at 256-232-3541.

 

Brunch with Santa

Cowart Elementary School’s Brunch with Santa is from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the school. More information: 256-233-6627.

 

Respite night

Lindsay Lane Baptist Church at 1300 Lindsay Lane will host a special respite from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday to allow caregivers  special time for Christmas shopping. Make reservations by noon Dec. 5 at 256-232-7207.

 

Farmers Market ribbon-cutting

The public is invited to a 2:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting Saturday to see improvements to Farmers Market at the corner of Green and Houston streets. The market area will open at 2 p.m. to view work done by volunteers with a $20,000 Lowe’s/Keep America Beautiful grant. Athens Saturday Market Committee will follow the ribbon-cutting with a 3-7 p.m. special day at the market with vendors, crafts and more.

 

Rogersville Christmas Parade

The Rogersville Kiwanis Christmas Parade is at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The theme is Holiday’s for Heroes and organizers welcome all veterans active or retired to participate.  More information: rogersvillealabama.com.

Christmas concert

The Athens State University Community Band Christmas Concert is at 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at Carter Gymnasium. The event is free to the public.

 

MEETINGS

• Addiction support. The Family Addiction Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 in the First National Bank Community Room at 1880 U.S. 72 East in Athens. The public is welcome at this planned monthly meeting. More information: Family Addiction Support Group Facebook page.

• Dixie Stitchers. The Athens Dixie Stitchers Quilt Guild will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Friendship Methodist Church on Lucas Ferry Road for its Christmas party which requires bringing a covered dish and quilt related gift for the gift exchange.  More information: 256-233-3113.
