Community blood drive
Local veterans groups are sponsoring an Athens Community Blood Drive from 2-7 p.m. Thursday at the Vietnam veterans building on Elm Street. All blood donors will be automatically entered in a quarterly regional drawing to win a $1,000 gift card.
Pirates and Princesses party
The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host a free Pirates and Princesses party from 3-4:30 p.m. Friday for kids up to age 12. Includes stories, snacks and crafts. Participants may come dressed as a pirate, a princess or both.
NAACP fish fry
The annual NAACP Freedom Fund Fish Fry will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Good Friday at Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park in Athens. Plates are $8 and include fish, cole slaw, potatoes, hush puppies and dessert. Orders and information: Willie Woodruff 256-227-8489 and Greg Orr 256-654-0486.

Women’s History Month
The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will hold their Women’s History Month Celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday. Local Korean War veteran and retired teacher Mattye Murray will be honored. Guest speaker is Mary Scott Hunter, an Alabama Board of Education representative and Air Force veteran. Refreshments served.
Easter egg hunt
West Limestone Volunteer Fire Department will host an Easter egg hunt with games, relays and smoke house at 2 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall. West Limestone community invited.
Rescue squad garage sale

The American Red Cross will host an employee only blood drive at Limestone Correctional Facility from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27. A second drive will be held from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Vietnam Veteran’s chapter 511, 17953 W. Elm St.
Summer Library Pages

Athens High School greenhouse is now open with vegetables, ferns and an assortment of bedding plants. Hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays and 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays.
Vidalia onions sale
Athens Ladies Civitan Club is taking orders for Vidalia onions. Onions are $10 for 10 pounds. Order deadline is April 12. Projected delivery date is early May.
