Free cooking class

There will be a free cooking class, featuring low-cholesterol, low-fat, natural, hands-on demonstrations, recipes and resources from 3-5:30 p.m. today, Aug. 25, at Trinity SDA Church, 823 Browns Ferry Road. To register: 256-822-9452 or 256-434-1410.

Fundraiser tea

P.E.O. Chapter Z of Huntsville will have a fundraising Ladies Tea and Fashion Show from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Aug. 25, at Creekside Plantation in Mooresville. Tickets are $20 each. Funds provide scholarships and grants for women. Tickets: Holly Carpenter 256-479-1429.

Step Study

Celebrate Recovery is hosting Step Study from 3-5 p.m. today, Aug. 25, at Friendship North, 21960 Easter Ferry Road in Elkmont. Cost: $5 per book. Four books total. Contact: Jan Sanders 256-232-4906 or cr@friendshipumc.org.

MONDAY

Alabama Blues Brothers

The Alabama Blues Brothers will be perform from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Athens Senior Center. Space is limited and price of admission is a $3 donation.

TUESDAY

Used book sale

The Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the library at 405 E. South St. Contact: 256-232-1233.

WEDNESDAY

Storytime registration

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host Storytime registration Wednesday, Aug. 28. Registration for children ages 18-36 months is at 10:15 a.m., and children ages 3-5 at 11:15. Caregivers must attend classes with 18-36 month-old-children. Both classes will read stories, sing songs, play games, and do simple crafts. Storytime is a free program, but registration is required. Questions: Call the library at 256-232-1233.

THURSDAY

Blood drive

The Red Cross and Limestone County Young Republicans will hold a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Days Inn banquet facility at 1322 U.S. 72 East in Athens.

FRIDAY

AHS pep rally

Athens High School’s annual pep rally on The Square will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse. AHS hosts Decatur at 7 p.m. at Golden Eagles Stadium.
