Athens Christmas Open House

The annual Athens Christmas Open House, organized by the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce and Spirit of Athens, continues today from 1-5 p.m. There will also be a Christmas Open House grand prize drawing at 4:30 p.m. today for a custom-designed amethyst pendant and earring set from Hobbs Jewelers. The winner does not have to be present to win.

MONDAY

Jewelry sale fundraiser

A $5 jewelry and accessories sale will be held from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Athens-Limestone Hospital Education Department. Proceeds benefit the hospital’s auxiliary scholarship fund.

Blood drive

The Tanner High School blood drive is from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday in the gym lobby. All 16-year-old donors must bring a signed parental/legal guardian consent form. Photo ID or American Red Cross donor card also required.

TUESDAY

Used book sale

The Friends of the Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 405 E. South St. More information: 256-232-1233.

Coat giveaway

Area churches are sponsoring a coat giveaway from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at Riddles Hall at the intersection of Ripley and Shaw roads in the Ripley-Coxey-Clements community of Limestone County.

Holiday Home Tour

The Athens Ladies Civitan will host its third annual Holiday Home Tour from 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 1. The self-guided tour takes participants through five Athens homes decorated for the holidays. Six local caterers will provide a variety of treats to enjoy at each home. Advance tickets are $15 and available at Class Act Hair and Nail Salon, Crawford's Gifts, Pablos on Market, First National Bank (Lindsay Lane), Pam’s Home Furnishings, Pimentos, SheaLeigh’s Boutique, Smith Infinity of Huntsville, Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful, and Trinity's gifts. Athens Christmas Parade

The 10th annual Reliance Bank Christmas Parade is Dec. 5, with a 6 p.m. start at Athens High School on U.S. 31. Float lineup begins at 3:15. The theme is A Storybook Christmas. The parade goes west along Hobbs Street, winds around the Courthouse, travels down Jefferson Street and ends at Hometown Grocery.

Holiday Party library fundraiser

This year’s Holiday Party fundraiser for the new Athens-Limestone Public Library will be hosted by Jim and Kristi Christopher on Dec. 6, from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person and include a tour of their historic home, 311 N. Jefferson St., an open bar, music and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are limited to the first 200 sold and are available at the library, 405 East South St., or online, www.athenslimestone.lib.al.us.

Rogersville Christmas Parade

The Rogersville Kiwanis Christmas Parade is at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7. The theme is Holiday’s for Heroes and welcomes all veterans active or retired to participate.  For more information, visit rogersvillealabama.com.
