Used book sale

Friends of the Athens-Limestone Public Library will have a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the library at 405 E. South St. For more information, call 256-232-1233.

 

FRIDAY

Cosplay Party for Teens

Athens-Limestone Public Library will host a cosplay party for teens from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Cosplay is short for “costume party.” Come dressed as book, movie or TV character. Food and games; free, no registration required. Teens only. Call 256-232-1233 for more information.

 

SATURDAY

Firefighter breakfast

Dutch treat firefighter breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. March 29 at BoJangles on U.S. 72 East. For more information, call Paul Irons at 256-232-5402.

 

Free Dump Day

Limestone residents may take a truck or trailer load of trash free of charge to the Transfer Station at 16100 BFI Lane, (just before 7-Mile Post Road), from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 29. Maximum of four tires; no hazardous waste; appliances with Freon must have compressor removed or Freon removal certificate; no contractors. Sandlin Cemetery cleanup

A Sandlin Cemetery spring workday will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Everyone with someone buried there is encouraged to participate. Bad weather makeup day will be the following Saturday. For more information, call 256-729-1485.

Orchids in Spring

Heart of Dixie Orchid Society is hosting an annual show and sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 29, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Double Tree Suites, 6000 Memorial Parkway at Martin Road. There will be re-potting demos at noon at 2 p.m. both days; children’s activities; free admission; cameras welcome.
