Pirates and Princesses party
The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host a free Pirates and Princesses party from 3-4:30 p.m. today for kids up to age 12. Includes stories, snacks and crafts. Participants may come dressed as a pirate, a princess or both.
NAACP fish fry
The annual NAACP Freedom Fund Fish Fry will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Good Friday at Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park in Athens. Plates are $8 and include fish, coleslaw, potatoes, hush puppies and dessert. Orders and information: Willie Woodruff 256-227-8489 and Greg Orr 256-654-0486.

VFW egg hut
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4765 will hold a free Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at their Post on Alabama 127 and North Jefferson Street. Public invited. Prizes in every egg.
Women’s History Month
The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will hold their Women’s History Month Celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday. Local Korean War veteran and retired teacher Mattye Murray will be honored. Guest speaker is Mary Scott Hunter, an Alabama Board of Education representative and Air Force veteran. Refreshments served.
Easter egg hunt
West Limestone Volunteer Fire Department will host an Easter egg hunt with games, relays and smokehouse at 2 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall. West Limestone community invited.

Soul’d Out Christian Center International will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Athens Boys & Girls Club on Washington Street. The public is invited.
AHS parent/student meeting
A parent/student meeting for students enrolled in ninth, 10th and 11th grades at Athens High School will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the AHS cafeteria. Registration procedures, course offerings and graduation requirements will be discussed.
Elk River cleanup
Volunteers to assist Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful in cleaning up a land and water section of the Elk River will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at a central location to be announced and then disperse to cleanup locations. Summer Library Page applications are available at Athens-Limestone Public Library through April 13. Teen summer volunteers must be at least age 13 and have completed seventh grade by June 1. Applications are also available at www.alcpl.org. Contact Kelli at 256-232-1233 with questions.
April 5 is the deadline for graduating seniors or full-time college students to apply for the Limestone County Farmers Federation $1,000 scholarship.
