Veterans Museum holiday closing


The Alabama Veterans Museum on Pryor Street is closed until 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26.

Memorial ceremony


The Mims-Russell AMVETS Memorial Post 21 will conduct a 10-year memorial ceremony from 1-2 p.m. Jan. 2 at the gravesites of Officer Tony Mims and Sgt. Larry Russell in the Roselawn Cemetery. Guest speakers are Rep. Dan Williams, Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks, Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson, former Athens Police Chief Wayne Harper, and Sheriff Mike Blakely. The memorial is open to the public. Athens Police Department will provide firing team, AMVETS will conduct the playing of Taps and laying of the wreaths.

Teen Library Council


Applications for the Teen Library Council are now available at the Athens-Limestone Public Library.  TLC will meet to discuss books, movies, music, and other items of teen interest.  Must be 13 years old to join.  More information is available at the Library or on the website, www.alcpl.org.  Contact Kelli at 256-232-1233 with questions.
