Owens VFD fundraiser

Owens Volunteer Fire Department is conducting a door-to-door fund/picture drive for the next seven weeks. Proceeds go to upgrade equipment.

Savvy Kids Fitness

Savvy Kids Fitness is a program at Athens Recreation Department for children ages 6-12. It includes a nutrition lesson, a snack to encourage healthy eating and an exercise session. Cost is $5 a class with a one-time $30 registration fee. Meets from 4-5 p.m. Thursdays at Athens Recreation Center. Website is http://Savvy Kids Fitness.com.

Spencer Black Fun Run

Registration continues for the fourth annual Spencer Black 5K and 1-mile Fun Run set for 8:30 a.m. June 28 at Blue Springs Elementary School, 17687 Hardy Road at U.S. 72 West. Walkers, joggers and runners welcome. The event supports fitness programs at both Blue Springs and Clements High School and Spencer Black Scholarship Fund. Reunion Cemetery

Jackson Cemetery

Decoration day at the cemetery near Minor Hill, Tennessee, is Saturday. If unable to attend, donations may be made out to Jackson Cemetery and sent to: Billy Joe Word, 980 Shoal Creek Road, Goodspring, TN 38460.

Poplar Creek Cemetery

• Cancer survivors support. The cancer survivors support group will meet at 6 p.m. today, June 10, at Catfish Cabin on U.S. 72. Survivors, caregivers and friends are invited.

• Soil and water board. The Limestone County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Natural Resources Conservation Service Office, 1795 U.S. 72 East, Suite 102. The public is invited.

• Beekeepers. The Limestone County Beekeepers Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Limestone County Water Authority, 17218 U.S. 72 West.
