• Anniversary celebration. Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church at 759 Pine Grove Road in Harvest invites the public to attend the third anniversary celebration for Pastor C. Jermaine Turner and first lady Antoinette S. Turner today, April 14. There will be two services, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

• Outreach Ministries. Kingdom Builders Outreach Ministries of Athens will celebrate their sixth year at 2:30 p.m. today, April 14, at the VFW Hall on Cloverleaf Drive (behind Staples). Guests speaker will be Pastor Leo Mayberry and New Beginning M.B. Church choir of Tanner. Contact: Steve Branch 256- 431-0968.

• Concert. Jan Matthews and MTM Kingdom Agents unity concert with Canton Jones will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Epic Center at 4839 Calvary Blvd., in Tanner. Free admission but donations of canned food for area food banks are encouraged. Contact: 256-874-2941

• Pancake breakfast. Tanner United Methodist Church will hold a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at 19607 Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road. Contact: 256-232-0482.

• Gospel meeting. Sardis Springs Church of Christ on Mooresville Road at Alabama 251 in Athens is holding a gospel meeting Sunday through Wednesday, April 21-24. Dennis Abernathy of Gladewater, Texas will be he feature speaker. Monday through Wednesday services are at 7 p.m.

• Gospel singing. The Acts Worship Center at 1449 Charity Lane in Hazel Green is holding a gospel singing featauring Denise Hopkins-Jaco & Apostles II at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Contact: Glenis Sanders 256-828-6097.

• Men & Women. The Frazier C.M.E. Church at 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens will celebrate their annual Men & Women’s Day Program at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28. Special guest is Senior Pastor John W. Jude and the Pleasant Grove CPCA Church family. Contact: 256-233-2107.

  • Limestone Ledger 7/10/14

    SATURDAY
    Running With the Goats
    The first Running With the Goats 10K (7 a.m.), 5K (9 a.m.) at Belle Chevre Creamery, 18849 Upper Fort Hampton Road in Elkmont, and Fun Run (10 a.m.) on the Richard Martin Rails-to-Trails, is set for Saturday.     THURSDAY
    Hospice volunteer training
    Hospice of Limestone County is holding patient care volunteer training Thursday July 10 and 17. Volunteers provide a presence in the homes of patients but do not provide personal care, dispense meds, lift or feed patients. Training is free but you must register by contacting Pam at 256-232-5017 or pam@athenslimestonehospice.org.

    SATURDAY
    Cruise-In

    The monthly Cruise-In on The Square is 3-6 p.m. The Coolbone Brass Band, sponsored by Athens Rotary, will then parade around The Square at 6.

    FRIDAY
    July 4 fireworks

    The Athens-Limestone County Fireworks Show  will begin between 8:30 and 9 tonight (weather permitting) over  Athens Stadium on U.S. 31 North. Chairs, blankets welcome. Stadium seating is not available. Parking allowed at the Athens Recreation Center, Central Church of Christ, Athens High School parking lot and Kmart. Fireworks expected to last about 20 minutes.
