Confederate Memorial Day

Sons of Confederate Veterans, Capt. Thomas H. Hobbs Camp 768, is inviting the public to a Confederal Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. today at Confederates' Circle in Athens City Cemetery. Local author Jerry Barksdale will speak.

MONDAY

Custom Kicks shoes for teens

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host a free Custom Kicks from 3-4:30 p.m. Monday for teens to bring a pair of clean shoes to customize. Paint pens, glitter, and other crafty items will be used to decorate sandals, tennis shoes, slip-ons, high heels and more. For teens only. More information: 256-232-1233.

TUESDAY

Boy Scout Roundup

The public is invited to Boy Scout Troop 24's Roundup at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Methodist Church. Dutch oven peach cobbler and refreshments will be served. Activities include a demonstration of Scout activities, games, an ax yard and a campfire. More information: 256-874-0431.

FRIDAY

Hamburger Day

Kiwanis Club Hamburger Day is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Big Spring Memorial Park. Loaded charbroiled hamburger, chips, drink and dessert for $5. Coffee Call

The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives Coffee Call is 8-9 a.m. Saturday at 100 W. Pryor St. Collins Supply Inc. is the sponsor. Contact: Steve Hornberger 256-771-7578.

Place flags on veterans graves

A meeting for anyone interested in helping place flags on the graves of area veterans on Memorial Day will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday during Coffee Call at the Alabama Veterans Museum, 100 W.
