Red Cross blood drive


The American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Limestone Correctional Facility off Nick Davis Road.

Beginning Bookworms

Preschool registration


Registration for Beginning Bookworms Preschool at Athens-Limestone Public Library is going on now. The program meets Thursday mornings from 10:15-11:15 beginning Aug. 29. The class is for children in Athens and Limestone County; children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2013. The fee is $15 at registration and $15 in January ($30 total). Summer meal program

Free breakfast and lunch will be provided July 15-Aug. 2 at Piney Chapel Elementary School cafeteria for any child through age 18 living in Limestone County. Breakfast is from 7:45-8:15 a.m. and lunch is from 11-11:30 a.m.

West Limestone schedules


West Limestone High School students may pick up their schedules between 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on these dates: 12th grade, Aug. 5; 11th grade, Aug. 6; 10th grade, Aug. 7; and ninth grade, Aug. 8. Kindergarten orientation will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 11. Middle School schedules will be ready to pick up from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. Children in grades first through sixth will have an open house from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug 15.

Benefit yard sale

Useable sale items, including clothes and furniture, are needed for a benefit yard sale to be held Aug. 9-10 for cancer patient Jeff Miller, son of Margie and Ray Gold. Drop off items at 200 Hastings Road, next to Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, or call 256-232-5380.

AHS Class of ’58 reunion
