Used book sale

The Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 405 E. South St. Contact: 256-232-1233.

Barnes reunion

The Barnes family reunion will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Blackburn Event Center on U.S. 72 West. Covered dish and drink requested. Contacts: Louise Hall 256-206-5501 or Ola Mae Barnes 256-729-1777.

VFW fundraiser

A VFW benefit fundraiser for 5-year-old leukemia victim Alex Spry will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Post on North Jefferson Street. Contact: Kevin 256-278-8276.

Kids Fishing Rodeo

Limestone County Sportsman’s Club's free Kids Fishing Rodeo will begin with registration at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the club’s pond on Kennedy Road, just north of the intersection of Oakdale and Pepper roads. Lunch will be served. Call Michael Hardy at 256-431-7734 for more information.

Benefit breakfast

The Bethel, Tenn., Lodge 194 F&AM will serve a public buffet breakfast to benefit charity from 7-9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the lodge. Nonperishable food is being collected for the food bank.

Antioch decoration day

Antioch Cemetery decoration will be Saturday, Aug. 3. Upkeep donations may be sent to Amelia Smith, P.O. Box 151, Elkmont, AL 35620. Contact: Annette Lewis Wales 256-777-9851.

Lentzville decoration day

Lentzville Cemetery Decoration Day is Saturday, Aug. 3. Donation checks made out to Lentzville Cemetery Fund may be sent to Belinda Lansford, 1703 Trace End Trail, Athens, AL  35611. Contact: Billy McNatt 256-232-1601.

Salem decoration day

Salem Cemetery Decoration Day is Saturday, Aug. 3. There will be a covered-dish lunch at noon. Donation checks made out to Salem Cemetery may be sent to Joyce Gray McGill, 28980 Alabama 99, Lester, AL 35647.

Sandlin reunion

The 79th annual Sandlin family reunion will be from 10 a.m. until the last cousin leaves Saturday, Aug. 3, at Fort Decatur Recreation Center gymnasium at 610 Fourth St. in Decatur.  Covered-dish dinner at noon. Contact: Patsy Sandlin Medlock at 205-995-7988 or patsymedlock@bellsouth.net.
