Limestone Ledger for Tuesday, July 1

Blood drive

A LifeSouth Blood Mobile blood drive will be held 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association, 100 N. Beaty St. 

Ardmore library reading program

The Ardmore Public Library summer reading program “Fizz, Boom, Read!” is 10 a.m. Wednesday at 25836 Main Street in Ardmore, Tennessee. For ages 11 and under. The program features puppeteer Jill Thatcher. A similar program featuring the Bruce Almato Magic Show is July 9.

THURSDAY

Scrapbooking class

The Ardmore Public Library is the site of a free scrapbooking class with Jan Mitchell at 1 p.m. Thursday. Must bring your own binder/notebook, non-PDC pages and a dozen or so pictures. Other materials provided. The library is at 25836 Main Street in Ardmore, Tennessee.



FRIDAY

VVA Music Night

Vietnam Veterans of America Gary Elmore Chapter 511 will have music night from 7  to 10 p.m. Friday. Sweet memories of the past. No cover charge, but donations are welcome. More information: 256-206-5399.

July 4 Fireworks

The Athens-Limestone County Fireworks Show  will begin between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Friday (weather permitting) over  Athens Stadium on U.S. 31 North. Chairs, blankets welcome. Stadium seating is not available. Parking allowed at the Athens Recreation Center, Central Church of Christ, Athens High School parking lot and Kmart. Fireworks expected to last about 20 minutes.

VFW celebration

Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a Fourth of July celebration and cookout at 6 p.m. Friday at the Post on North Jefferson Street that will include food plates for $5 and karaoke. Proceeds go to assist veterans. The public is welcome.

SATURDAY

Used book sale

Friends of the Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 405 E. South Street. For information, call 256-232-1233.

VVA Country Band

Vietnam Veterans Chapter 511 will host a country band from 6 to 11 p.m. Door charge is $5. More information: 256-541-2853.

Turkey & Ham shoot canceled

The VVA turkey and ham shoot scheduled for July 5 has been canceled and will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. August 2.
