— • Valentine Banquet. New Life Assembly of God at 16768 U.S. 72 West is hosting a Valentine Banquet fundraiser at 7 p.m. Friday Feb. 14. Proceeds support students going to youth convention at Orange Beach on March 7-8 and Speed-the-Light (a youth missions project). Tickets are $20 per couple or $12 per individual at the church or by calling 256-232-6119.

• Pancake breakfast. The Men of Grace will hold a pancake breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 549 W. Elm St. in Athens. The public is invited. Reginald Carl Battle will be guest speaker. 

• Black history event. The Alabama Democratic Conference Black History Extravaganza will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Assoc. Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road. Guest speaker is Jerome Gray. The event includes praise dances, skits, recitations, poems and member recognitions.

• Black history program. The Athens-Limestone Community Assoc. First Trinity Black History Program and Exhibition is at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at First Methodist Church Beasley Center. The program is in support of the Trinity Renovation Project. More information: 256-777-9727.

• Homecoming. Greenbrier Baptist Church at 7939 Greenbrier Road in Madison will hold its 72nd Homecoming celebration beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.
