Benefit yard sale

A benefit yard sale will be held today and Saturday, Aug. 9-10, for cancer patient Jeff Miller, son of Margie and Ray Gold at 200 Hastings Road, next to Lindsay Lane Baptist Church. Contact: 256-232-5380.

Back-to-school jam

Believe to Achieve, a nonprofit community advocacy group, will host a back-to-school jam and school supply giveaway from 4-6 p.m. today, Aug. 9, at Jimmy Gill Park at 340 W. Sanderfer Road. The free event includes door prizes, food and entertainment. The public is invited. Contact: 256-874-7457.

Bee symposium

The North Alabama Beekeeping Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Calhoun Community College in the Aerospace Building. The Limestone County Beekeepers Association sponsors the event. Contact: Lionel Evans 256-232-9073.

Blood drives

A Red Cross blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Mount Carmel Church of Christ fellowship building, 7805 U.S. 72 West. A blood drive will also be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday in honor of Jacob DuBois at Piney Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall, 28430 Pinedale Road in Ardmore.

Reading program

The Limestone County NAACP invites children ages 3-13 to attend the free Steps Book Club/Reading Program session at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Round Island Creek Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road. Learning, lunch and fun provided.  Registration and information: 256-216-5668.

NAACP membership rally

The Limestone NAACP will hold a membership rally from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at 17308 U.S. 72 West. Free hot dogs and soft drinks. Contact: Wilbert Woodruff 256-227-8489.

Family reunion

A reunion of family and friends of Lucy Haggard Moss Tribble and George Edward Tribble will be held from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena on Alabama 99. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish and drinks. Contact: 256-262-9207 or 256-233-3616.

    Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association will present Singing on the Square Concert at 6 p.m. Friday, April 18th sponsored by Champion Chevrolet. Trippin' Dixie will take the stage first. The Dixie Bluegrass Boys will follow at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chair for a free concert.

    Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
    Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 511, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday at the VVA building, 17915 W. Elm St. The $7 meal includes spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, dessert and drink. Take out or eat in. Proceeds benefit the VVA scholarship fund. More information: 256-206-5399.

Numerous health care vendors will be on-site. Also, water and nonperishable food donations accepted for Limestone County Churches Involved.
