MLK Day March

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day march sponsored by the Limestone NAACP will be Saturday, Jan. 18, in downtown Athens. Lineup is at 9:30 a.m., with the march at 10 from the Limestone County Courthouse Square to the Event Center on Pryor Street. An hour-long program follows the march.

‘Blood Stock’ blood drive

The American Red Cross is hosting a Haley Humphrey “Blood Stock” scholarship blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at New Life Assembly of God Family Life Center, 16768 U.S. 72 West in Athens.

Teen Library Council

Applications for the Teen Library Council are now available at the Athens-Limestone Public Library. TLC will meet to discuss books, movies, music and other items of teen interest. Must be 13 years old to join. More information is available at the Library or on the website at www.alcpl.org. Contact Kelli at 256-232-1233 with questions.

MEETINGS

• AHS Class of ’56. Athens High School Class of 1956 and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Applebee’s. More information: 256-777-0516.

• ALERA. The Athens-Limestone Education Retirees Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Athens Recreation Center. Guests will be Tammy Irons and Frank Travis. More information: Jerry George 256-729-1145.
