Benefit yard sale

A benefit yard sale will be held today Aug. 10, for cancer patient Jeff Miller, son of Margie and Ray Gold at 200 Hastings Road, next to Lindsay Lane Baptist Church. Contact: 256-232-5380.

Bee symposium

The North Alabama Beekeeping Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. today, Aug. 10, at Calhoun Community College in the Aerospace Building. The Limestone County Beekeepers Association sponsors the event. Contact: Lionel Evans 256-232-9073.

Reading program

The Limestone County NAACP invites children ages 3-13 to attend the free Steps Book Club/Reading Program session at 9:30 a.m. today, Aug. 10, at Round Island Creek Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road. Learning, lunch and fun provided.  Registration and information: 256-216-5668.

NAACP membership rally

Family reunion

Cowart Elementary orientation

Used book sale

The Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library at 405 E. South St. Contact: 256-232-1233.

THURSDAY

AARP safe driving class

The Council on Aging is hosting an AARP safe driving class from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Athens Senior Center on Pryor Street. AARP members pay $12, non-members pay $14. More information or to RSVP: Emily 256-233-6412.

CEMETERY CLEANUPS

Myers Cemetery
