— • Gospel meeting. Church of Christ at South Side is holding a gospel meeting nightly through May 17. Friday’s speaker is Jonathan Reeder.

• Yard sale. Tanner United Methodist Church at 19607 Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road will hold a yard sale from 7 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 18. Proceeds benefit the church. Contact: 256-232-0482.

• Block party. West Highland Baptist Church will host a block party from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Robert Allen Tinnon Park on Fifth Avenue. Inflatables, food, games and more. Children and youth are invited.

• Day of Love. Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America will hold a Day of Love and give away free food boxes at the corner of Plato Jones and Browns Ferry streets from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Contact: 256-216-0660 or 256-233-5995.

• Community outreach cookout. Section Line Community Church will hold a free community outreach cookout at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Fuel City, located on the corner of Alabama 99 and Elk River Mills Road. More information: 256-614-3647.

• Cookout/Gospel meeting. Westside Church of Christ at 25704 Smithfield Road in Elkmont is holding a community cookout from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, and a gospel meeting at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 19.

• Guest speaker. Phil Savage will be the guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, May 19, at FBC Tanner. Savage is president of the Senior Bowl, current player personnel executive for the Philadelphia Eagles, former general manager for the Cleveland Browns and current color commentator for the Crimson Tide Sports Network. 

• Youth Day. The Greater Hope M.B. Church, located at 14065 Lucas Ferry Road, will hold Youth Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 19. Guest speaker is the Rev. Darrell Green, associate of Macedonia P.B. Church. The song service features the Greater Hope young adult choir.

• Anniversary. Peace Missionary Baptist Church at 1214 Plainview Circle in Athens will hold a church anniversary banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at RICMB Association Mission Center, and worship services at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26, with guest speakers. Public is invited.

• Anniversary. St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 10081 Snake Road in Athens invites the public to attend its 148th church anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26 with guest pastor and church. More information: Levonia Jones 256-651-9853 or church office 256-729-1705.

    Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 511, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday at the VVA building, 17915 W.
