Cleanup volunteers needed

Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful seeks volunteers for a cleanup of the Elk River Canoe & Kayak Trail and surrounding land areas to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 8. Lunch and bottled water provided. Women’s History Month

March is National Women’s History Month, and this year the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives in Athens will present “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage & Commitment,” a celebration of women in the Vietnam War. If you know any women who were in service during the Vietnam era call Sandy Thompson at 256-771-7578.

MEETINGS

• Young Republicans. Limestone County Young Republicans will host a state of the county address by County Commission Chairman Stanley Menefee Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Mac’s Steakhouse on Jefferson Street. Social hour at 6, meeting at 7. More information: www.lcyrs.com.

• Republican women. Limestone Republican Women will hold their annual membership drive during a 6:30-8:30 p.m. meeting Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Domino Hall, 100 N. Beaty St. Fun, fellowship and door prizes. RSVP to 256-206-0515.

• Tea party. The Athens-Limestone Tea Party Patriots will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at 100 Beaty St. The public is invited. More information: Tony 256-777-2326.
