Mental health forum

The News Courier and Athens State University will sponsor a mental health forum from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, in the ballroom of the Sandridge Student Center on the campus of Athens State. Featured speakers will be mental health care workers, Probate Judge Charles Woodroof and law enforcement representatives. Topics of discussion will include mental illness indicators, resources and funding. The forum is open to the public, but may be of special interest to health care workers, clergy, teachers or any other professionals who work with the public on a daily basis. The public may also submit anonymous questions that will be answered by the panelists.

WEDNESDAY

PTSD discussion

A post-traumatic stress disorder discussion will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at the Huntsville Public Library, 915 Monroe St. Dr. David Ferguson, psychologist at Fox Army Health Center will lead a discussion to include signs and symptoms, federal and local resources and a question and answer session. SATURDAY

Benefit breakfast

The Bethel, Tenn. Lodge 194 F&AM will serve a buffet breakfast to benefit charity from 7-9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Lodge building. Public invited. Nonperishable food items are being collected for the food bank.

Lentzville Cemetery

The Lentzville Cemetery Decoration Day is Saturday, Aug. 3. All with loved ones there are asked to attend. Check donations made out to Lentzville Cemetery Fund can be sent to: Belinda Lansford, 1703 Trace End Trail, Athens, AL  35611. Contact: Billy McNatt 256-232-1601.

Salem Cemetery

Salem Cemetery Decoration Day is Saturday, Aug. 3. There is a covered dish lunch at noon. Check donations made out to Salem Cemetery can be sent to: Joyce Gray McGill, 28980 Highway 99, Lester, AL 35647.

Sandlin reunion

The 79th annual Sandlin family reunion will be held from 10 a.m. until the last cousin leaves Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Fort Decatur Recreation Center gymnasium at 610 Fourth St. in Decatur.     Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
    Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 511, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday at the VVA building, 17915 W. Elm St. The $7 meal includes spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, dessert and drink. Take out or eat in. Proceeds benefit the VVA scholarship fund. More information: 256-206-5399.
