Rodeo queen applications

Today is the deadline for ages 3-15 to enter an application for the 31st annual Limestone Sheriff’s Rodeo Queen Pageant. Entry deadline for ages 16-26 is Friday, May 3. Applications are available at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, online at www.limestonesheriffrodeo.com, and at Preston’s Western Wear on U.S. 72 East. Contact: Jennifer at 256-232-0111. 

Garden club scholarship

Today is the deadline for submitting applications for the Athens Garden Club $1,000 scholarship. Applications for graduating high school seniors are available at any Limestone County high school counselor’s office. Information: AthensGardenClub@live.com.

Vidalia onions deadline

Today is the deadline to order Vidalia onions from Athens Ladies Civitan. Ten pounds for $10. Call 256-729-1255 or 256-232-2865.

Respite Night

Caregiver’s Night Out will be from 6-9 tonight at Clements Baptist Church, 8690 U.S. 72 West.

SATURDAY

Relay for Life fundraiser

T&C Stamping Inc. employees are holding a yard sale from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at 1403 Freeman Ave. in Athens to raise money for Relay for Life. Items include household, toys, clothes, furniture, cookbooks and more.

Walk for Autism

The Walk for Autism is at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Athens High School. A $30 registration fee includes a T-shirt. There is a 2-mile walk and other activities for kids and families. Register at www.walkforautismal.com. 

Reading program

The Limestone County NAACP invites children ages 3-13 to attend the free Steps Book Club/Reading Program session at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Round Island Creek Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road. Learning, lunch and fun provided.  Registration and information contact: 256-216-5668.

Elkmont Bean Day

A $5 meal of beans and cornbread with trimmings, dessert and drink will be available on Bean Day from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elkmont Fire Department. Meal is $3 for children age 8 and under. Event includes live entertainment and door prizes.
