WEDNESDAY

Storytime registration

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host Storytime registration today, Aug. 28. Registration for children ages 18-36 months is at 10:15 a.m., and children ages 3-5 at 11:15. Caregivers must attend classes with 18-36 month-old-children. Both classes will read stories, sing songs, play games, and do simple crafts. Storytime is a free program, but registration is required. THURSDAY

Blood drive

The Red Cross and Limestone County Young Republicans will hold a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Days Inn banquet facility at 1322 U.S. 72 East in Athens.

FRIDAY

Drop-In Storytime for babies

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host free Drop-In Storytime for babies beginning at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30. Drop-In Storytime includes stories, songs, rhymes and bounces and is for infants, babies, and toddlers up to 18 months old and their caregivers. No registration required. AHS pep rally

Athens High School’s annual pep rally on The Square will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse. AHS hosts Decatur at 7 p.m. at Golden Eagles Stadium.

SATURDAY

Firefighter’s breakfast

A firefighter’s breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Bojangles’ on U.S. 72 East. Contact: Paul Irons 256-232-5402.

Elkmont High car show

The third annual Elkmont High School Band Car Show will be from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the school, 25630 Evans Ave. Registration, which admits two people, is $15 in advance and $20 on Saturday. Patterson reunion

The James Early and Mary Springer Patterson family reunion will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 31, at the home of Billy and Linda Patterson. More information: 256-729-1776.

Glanton-Vinson reunion

The annual Glanton-Vinson family/friends reunion begins at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Owens Community Center on Alabama 99. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish and old family pictures. Copier available. Contact: Judy Jackson 256-777-0551.

    The 14th annual Miss/Master Crape Myrtle Festival Pageant is Saturday at the Ardmore, Tennessee Annex Building. Competition begins at 1 p.m. for girls, infant through age 19, and boys, infant through age 5. More information: 256-278-5524.

    The Athens Arts League Summer Art Stroll is 4-8 p.m. Friday on the downtown Limestone County Courthouse lawn. The free, family-friendly event will include music and 25 artists including painters, ceramicists, jewelry makers, mixed media and textile artists.
