4 Paws and a Book, a program dedicated to improve reading skills of children ages 5 and older is 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Houston Memorial Library. Republican meet and greet
A Limestone Country Republican Party meet and greet for local Republican candidates is 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Athens State University ballroom. Each candidate will speak for two minutes. Desserts, coffee and tea will be served.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 511, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the VVA building, 17915 W. Elm St. The $7 meal includes spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, dessert and drink. Proceeds benefit the VVA scholarship funds.
