Used book sale

The Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 405 E. South St. More information: 256-232-1233.

Tutor training

A Tutor Training Workshop to help adults learn to read will be held from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Learn to Read, Quad-Plex Office Building, 110 Thomas St., Suite 115-S in Athens. More information and registration: 256-230-3050.

Blood drive

ONGOING

Johnston Cemetery upkeep

Funds are need for the upkeep of Johnston Cemetery on Mooresville Road. Send donations to: Marjorie B. Pepper, 27191 Capshaw Road, Athens, AL 35613.

Walking tours

Free guided one-hour walking tours of Athens historic districts will be offered each Saturday in April. Tours begin 10 a.m. at the Athens-Limestone County Visitors Center at Big Spring Memorial Park. More information: 256-232-5411.

SilverSneakers classes

SilverSneakers flex strength and balance classes are held 8:30-9:15 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Athens Senior Center on Pryor Street. Flex cardio and strength classes are held 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Round Island Baptist Church. All are welcome. Rodeo queen deadline

April 11 is the deadline to submit applications for ages 3-15 for the 32nd annual Limestone Sheriff's Rodeo Queen Pageant. Deadline for ages 16-26 is May 2. Applications are available at the sheriff's office and online at www.limestonesheriffrodeo.com. Contact: Jennifer McBay 256-232-0111.

Sunrise service

A public sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 20, in front of Athens State University's Waters Hall.  Rain location is the  “Bear Cave” in the ASU Student Union building. The service is sponsored by the Athens Limestone Ministerial Alliance.
