Zombie party for teens

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host a free zombie party for teens from 2-4:30 p.m. Friday, June 28. The event includes games, activities, crafts, snacks and more. Information: 256-232-1233.

Respite Night

Caregiver’s Night Out will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, 1300 Lindsay Lane. Make reservations by noon today, June 27, at 256-232-7207.

Animal shelter yard sale

The Athens-Limestone County Animal Shelter yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. until all items are gone Saturday, June 29, at 1701 U.S. 72 East between Russell Stover and Preston’s Western Wear. Donations, with the exception of clothes, are accepted and can be dropped off at the shelter. Contact: 256-771-7889.

Daylily sale

The North Alabama Daylily Society is hosting its annual daylily sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at The Greenery in Hampton Cove. Organizers say more than 170 different colors of daylilies will be for sale at bargain prices.

Haggard reunion

A reunion in the memory of Dorcie and Francis Haggard will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Joe Wheeler State Park. A covered dish is requested for lunch at 3 p.m. The day is to include games, fun and time with family. Contact: 256-233-8924.

Masons chicken stew

Athens Lodge 16 at the corner of Lucas Ferry and Elm Street will sell chicken stew on Saturday, June 29.  Stew is $20 per gallon (lesser quantities available on request) and will be ready for pickup at 10 a.m.  Free containers or bring your own. Dr. Magical Balloons

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host Dr. Magical Balloons at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29. The free event for all ages features Dr. Magical Balloons telling stories with balloon animal characters. More information: 256-232-1233.

Free meal

A free meal of chicken stew, crackers, dessert and drink will be served at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at 503 S. Hine St. in Athens. Organizers say everyone is welcome.
