Alzheimer’s information

An information booth with educational materials and someone to answer questions about Alzheimer’s disease will be available from 2-4 p.m. today at Walgreens on U.S. 31 North in Athens across from the high school.

SATURDAY

Decoration day

Nebo Community Church on Nuclear Plant Road will have cemetery decoration day at 9 a.m. Saturday. People unable to attend are requested by organizers to send donations for upkeep to: Nancy Sweeney, 15844 Curtis Lane, Athens, AL 35611.

Pack reunion

All relative of C.J. and Mary Pack are invited to attend a family reunion at Owens Senior Center on Alabama 99 on Saturday. Lunch begins at 1 p.m. and people attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Contact: 256-232-7404.

SUNDAY

Casteel reunion

The Casteel reunion will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena on Alabama 99. Contact: 256-729-8979 or 777-9317.

VFW grill out

The VFW and Ladies Auxiliary grill out will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the VFW Post on North Jefferson Street. $5 per plate for barbecue ribs and chicken plate dinners. Eat in or carry out. Public invited. Contact: 256-729-6077 or 431-7887.

MONDAY

Memorial Day ceremony

The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Limestone County Event Center on Pryor Street across from the Veterans Museum. Guest speaker will be Major Gen. Lynn Collyar, commanding general of the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command. Refreshments to follow. Contact: 256-771-7578.

TUESDAY

Used book sale

The Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library at 405 E. South St. Contact: 256-232-1233.

UPCOMING

Grant request

The city of Athens plans to submit a pre-application for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant to renovate the kids’ dugout at the Sportsplex to make it handicapped accessible and improve facilities. Residents can share opinions about the plan during the May 28 City Council meeting. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Athens Police Department.
