— • Free meals. Mighty Warrior Church at 20092 Swanner Boulevard in Tanner is offering hot meals, hair cuts and hugs — all free — from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Nov. 29. The church is located between Tanner Clinic and Athens-Limestone Food and Shelter. More information: 256-278-0855.

• Thanksgiving meal. Elkmont United Methodist Church will hold its free Community Thanksgiving Meal from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Nov. 28 in the church annex. Open to everyone. Seniors are invited to be honored guests. Shut-ins requiring delivery can call the church at 256-732-4301 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. before Thanksgiving Day.

• Musical appreciation. The Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 14065 Lucas Ferry Road in Athens is hosting musician Kendrick Patton and drummer Tevin Jackson musical appreciation at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 1. The Rev. Felix Parker and Moses Temple C.P. Church are in charge of the service.

• Quarterly singing. Cartwright Church of Christ, at 23180 Alabama 99 in Elkmont, invites the public to attend its quarterly singing at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 1.

• Oak Grove portraits. Oak Grove C.M.E. Church will have a photographer available Dec. 7 and 8 to make portraits. For more information, call Tiffany Burks at 256-874-6716 or Shirley Malone at 256-874-6605.

• Ordination Service. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at 27971 Easter Ferry Road in Lester will hold an Ordination Service for Minister Tavares Townsend at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8. The Rev. Damon Betts and Little Zion M.B. Church are in charge of the service. Lunch will be served. The church pre-Christmas program will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 and include Minister James Jamar and St. John M.B. Church.

    Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association will present Singing on the Square Concert at 6 p.m. Friday, April 18th sponsored by Champion Chevrolet. Trippin' Dixie will take the stage first. The Dixie Bluegrass Boys will follow at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chair for a free concert.

    Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
    Vietnam Veterans of America, chapter 511, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday at the VVA building, 17915 W. Elm St. The $7 meal includes spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, dessert and drink. Take out or eat in. Proceeds benefit the VVA scholarship fund. More information: 256-206-5399.

Numerous health care vendors will be on-site. Also, water and nonperishable food donations accepted for Limestone County Churches Involved.
